Take Eat

An image grabbed my mind:

A girl of five standing under a pine tree

A child with golden hair inspecting the limb of this tree,

plucked a cone and

Looked at it curiously.

As I drove on bye thinking how we were given the fruit of every tree. I wondered might Eve be like this child.

It was a gift to see her inspect it so reverently and this thought came to me.

How life is given abundantly and yet its

so hard to see.

How five thousand got fed so easily when there was love and trust.

How divinity spreads from a tiny seed.

How we give up trust to store up

wine and bread self protectively

So no one gets bye easily.

How we need our separate feasts and

call each our own.

How all we have is not really

Of our own doing,

but good fortune after the fall.

How the one anointed gave all he had and died disappointed by friends he called his own.

And here we stand

Hoping to glean some truth from the vision of His kingdom,

He shared faithfully.

Bread and wine offered to all.

Yet we keep planning to stay on top,

And hold back being His creation,

Instead work hard to protect our dreams held with personal conviction.

How the truth we seek in children’s arms, in loving tenderly,

dies

when not shared abundantly.
