On polar winds
Winter lumbered in.
Tenacious little flakes fell,
Covered dying grass on frosty hills,
Spread across once busy streets,
Closed off thoughts of hurriedness.
Snow fell through the night
As worried eyes chanced rest.
Forced plans to go on hold,
And weather took control.
But morning light,
Dispelled threads of concern,
When awe struck eyes saw the show:
Ice crystals that fell through the night
Joined in one solid bank
Of new fallen snow
Shimmering white in sunlight.
Nature’s persistence dazzled the mind:
Offered slices of immediacy
On the knife edge of now,
Opened veins of silence within,
Shaped inconveniences of time
Into a moment of zen.
