Home fires

Started a fire in the stone hearth,

Flames lit up quickly enough,

Danced in the air,

Heating our cold, out stretched hands,

Warming up hearts in the firelight

Eager to snuggle

Side by side,

Ready to bed down for the long winter night.

Flesh touched flesh,

Your blue eyes sparkled in the firelight

Home fires glowed

And love warmed the night.

Happy by the fireside,

Near you tonight,

And may it be so

Throughout this new year.
